Day 1 | Welcome to Rome

Departure from Sofia Airport to Rome. Arrival in Rome. Meeting and transfer to Marble Falls – one of the most impressive natural sites in Umbria. The waterfall reaches 165 m and is divided into three cascades, surrounded by lush vegetation, natural caves and picturesque panoramas.

We continue to Montefalco, a picturesque medieval town set among the vineyards and olive groves of Umbria. Due to its magnificent location, the town is known as „"The Balcony of Umbria"“. We will walk through the historic center, see the medieval palaces, the church-museum "St. Francis" and the Belvedere panoramic platform, which offers an impressive view of the valleys and vineyards of Sagrantino. For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to taste the famous local wine Sagrantino.

Next Bevanja – one of the best preserved medieval towns in Italy, surrounded by impressive fortress walls. The walking tour will take us to the picturesque Piazza Silvestri, surrounded by historic palaces and churches, including San Michele, San Domenico and San Silvestro. We will also see the medieval public laundry connected to the waters of the Clituno River.

Departure for Assisi – one of the most famous spiritual and historical centers of Umbria. Accommodation. Free time. Overnight.

Day 2 | Orvieto – Bagnoregio

Breakfast. Departure for Orvieto – one of the most picturesque hill towns in Umbria, impressive with its unique location on a volcanic plateau and rich medieval heritage. Upon request, we will have the opportunity for an organized guided visit to St. Patrick's Well„ – a remarkable work of Renaissance engineering.

A funicular ride to the historic center of the city. We will see the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta„, famous for its ornate facade, marble reliefs and glittering mosaics. The walk continues to the Moor's tower, People's Square and the central square with the Church of St. Andrew. We will end with a panoramic stop at the Basilica of St. Juvenal, from where beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes open up.

If desired, we can visit with a guide and Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta„ – one of the most impressive works of Romanesque-Gothic architecture in Italy, famous for its golden mosaics and rich artistic decoration. Free time for a walk and lunch.

Next departure for Civita di Bagnoregio – one of the most unusual and impressive medieval towns in Italy, known as „"the dying city"“. Situated on a cliff surrounded by the deep valleys of the calanques, the town is gradually changing under the influence of erosion.

The visit begins with an impressive panoramic view of the medieval houses, seemingly emerging directly from the rock. We will cross the picturesque pedestrian bridge that connects Civita to the rest of the world, and enter through the ancient Santa Maria Gate„. The walk continues until San Donato Square„, the heart of the town, where beautiful historic buildings and the church of the same name are located.

The end of the walk is in „"The Poet's Garden"“ – one of the most beautiful panoramic points of Civita di Bagnoregio, from where an impressive view of the valley of the calanques opens. Free time with the opportunity to visit the Pinocchio house-museum. Departure to the hotel. Overnight.

 

Day 3 | Gubbio - Urbino

Breakfast. Departure for Gubbio – one of the most picturesque medieval towns of Umbria, known as „"the city of stone"“. Having preserved its medieval appearance almost intact, Gubbio impresses with its labyrinth of narrow streets, stone buildings and mysterious atmosphere.

The walk begins at the impressive Grande Square„, surrounded by medieval palaces, including Palace of the Consuls, Pretorio Palace и Doge's Palace. We will see more. The Fountain of the Mad, the cathedral, the Basilica of St. Francis, the Roman Theater and the Antiquarium. For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to climb the open cable car to Basilica of St. Ubaldo„, from where an impressive panorama of Gubbio and the surrounding hills opens up. Free time.

We continue to Urbino – one of the most significant centers of the Italian Renaissance and the birthplace of the great artist Raphael. The historic center of the city is included in the UNESCO list for its exceptional cultural and architectural heritage.

During the walking tour we will see the impressive Ducal Palace – a true Renaissance „city within a city“ and one of the most significant architectural monuments of the era. We will visit Urbino Cathedral, known as the Corridor of Forgiveness, and Raphael's house-museum, where the artist spent his childhood. The walk continues past the Sanzio Theater, the Carlo Bo University and the fortress Albornoz, located on the highest point of San Sergio Hill and offering wonderful panoramic views of the city.

Upon request, a guided tour of the The Ducal Palace. Free time for a walk and independent exploration of Urbino. Departure for the hotel. Free time. Overnight.

 

Day 4 | Assisi – Spello- Spoleto

Breakfast. Departure for Assisi – one of the most famous spiritual centers of Italy and the birthplace of Saint Francis, the patron saint of the country. If desired, we will visit with a guide Basilica of St. Francis„ – one of the most significant religious and artistic complexes in Italy, famous for its magnificent frescoes dedicated to the life of the saint.

The walking tour of Assisi will take us to Temple of Minerva, the central square, surrounded by the Palazzo Capitano del Popolo and the Palazzo dei Principe, the birthplace of Saint Francis, Basilica of Santa Chiara„ и Cathedral of San Rufino„. For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to climb to the fortress. „"Rocca Maggiore"“, from where an impressive panorama opens towards Assisi and the green hills of Umbria. Free time.

We continue to Spello – a charming medieval town located on the slopes of Mount Subasio. The stone houses, narrow winding streets and beautiful panoramic views turn the whole town into a unique attraction. Spelo is also famous for its tradition of an annual horse racing competition. the most beautifully decorated street with flowers, which turns the town into a true colorful fairy tale. During the walk we will see the ancient Roman gates, medieval churches and traces of the city's Roman past. Free time.

Next Spoleto – one of the most impressive cities of art in the heart of Umbria. The walking tour starts from Garibaldi Square„ and the Basilica of St. Gregory the Great, after which we will continue to the magnificent Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary„, the Roman Theater and the Market Square.

The end of the walk is at the impressive „"Tower Bridge"“ – a medieval aqueduct bridge, built on the foundations of an ancient Roman structure and connecting the city with the fortress „Albornoziana“. The bridge offers magnificent views of the valley and the surrounding hills.

Day 5 | Montone – Passignano sul Trasimeno – Perugia

Breakfast. Departure for Perugia – the capital of Umbria and a city with a rich artistic and architectural heritage, where the history of the region comes alive at every turn.

The walking tour begins at Corso Vannucci – the main street of the medieval city, which leads to the majestic "IV November" Square„. Here we will see one of the symbols of Perugia – Fontana Maggiore, a magnificent medieval masterpiece created by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano in the 13th century. We will look at more Rocca Paolina – an impressive fortress, built according to a design by Antonio da Sangallo and which has today become a kind of underground city with exhibition spaces and escalators.

The walk will continue on the steps of the ancient aqueduct of Perugia – one of the most picturesque routes in the historic center. For those who wish and for an additional fee, there will be an opportunity to visit Perugina Chocolate Factory„, as well as an organized visit to National Gallery of Umbria, preserving valuable works by Umbrian and Tuscan masters.

Next departure for Montone – a romantic medieval town, included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Situated among the green landscapes of the Upper Tiber Valley, Montone impresses with its stone houses, narrow streets and peaceful atmosphere. Free time for a walk.

We continue to Lake Trasimeno – the largest lake in Central Italy and one of the most picturesque natural treasures of Umbria. We will visit Passignano sul Trasimeno, a charming coastal town combining a medieval atmosphere, beautiful landscapes and the peaceful rhythm of lake life.

The walking tour will take us through the narrow streets of the historic center, past the medieval churches and to the impressive fortress of Pasignano, from which wonderful views of the lake open. The fortress also houses The Boat Museum, and the place often hosts various cultural events.

Free time by the lake with the opportunity to walk along the pier and the tourist port. For those who wish – the opportunity to boat trip on Lake Trasimeno at sunset.

Day 6 | Perugia -Rome

Breakfast. Check-out. Transfer from the hotel to the airport for a direct flight from Rome to Sofia. Arrival at Sofia airport.
