Day 1 Sofia - Zurich

Departure from Sofia Airport with a direct flight to Zurich. After landing at Zurich Airport, we will make a short transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for walking and exploring the beauty of Switzerland. Zurich, the country's largest city, is located on the northern shore of the picturesque Lake Zurich and offers attractions with over 2,000 years of history. Be sure to enjoy the historic Lindenhof hill and the Fraumünster church with its Marc Chagall stained glass windows.

For art lovers, the Kunsthaus Museum and the Haus Konstructiv Museum offer many inspiring works. And for chocolate fans, a short cruise to the Lindt Museum – the world's largest chocolate repository, will be a real treat. There we will be able to trace the history of chocolate since 1845. until today, to taste different types of Swiss chocolate and enjoy aromatic coffee.

After returning to the hotel, you will have free time for walking. For dinner, we recommend two iconic restaurants: "Zeughauskeller", a traditional restaurant in the heart of Zurich with a cozy atmosphere and authentic Swiss dishes such as fondue and schnitzel, located in a historic barracks, and "Kronenhalle" - one of the most prestigious restaurants in the city, visited by famous figures such as Picasso and James Joyce, with an extensive menu and a stylish atmosphere.

Day 2 Zurich – Grindelwald

Breakfast. After that we will travel by train through the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland, passing through Lucerne and Interlaken on our way to Grindelwald – one of the oldest and most beautiful alpine resorts. We will enjoy the amazing views during the journey, and after arriving in Grindelwald, we will have free time to immerse ourselves in the magic of this magical place. Surrounded by majestic mountains such as the Eiger, we can enjoy unique views or stroll through the village with its traditional colorful cottages creating a true Swiss atmosphere.

If desired, we can take the cable car up to Grindelwald First, from where even more impressive views will be revealed. For adrenaline lovers, we offer the unique aerial adventure with First Glider. Imagine flying over the majestic Alps, carried by the wind, with the feeling of being part of the wild nature! First Glider offers tourists to soar high above the ground, attached to an eagle-shaped structure, and descend over the mountain peaks, enjoying unparalleled views of the valley and the Schreckhorn Peak.

Afterwards we will have free time for an evening walk. Overnight in Grindelwald.

 

Day 3 Jungfrau – "Top of Europe"

Breakfast. Then we will head to the highest railway station in Europe - Jungfraujoch. We will board the cog railway that will take us to Kleine Scheidegg, from where we will continue with the Jungfrau Express. Along the way, we will pass through tunnels cut into the majestic Eiger, rising to over 3,400 meters.

At the Jungfraujoch station, a magical winter landscape will be revealed to us all year round. We will have free time to explore the sights such as the Ice Palace and the Lindt Chocolate Shop. From the observation deck of the Sphinx we will enjoy unforgettable panoramic views of the Alech glacier.

In the evening we will return to Grindelwald. Overnight in Grindelwald.

 

Day 4 Lake Geneva

Breakfast. Today we will head to the train station to board the panoramic GoldenPass Express carriages that will take us from the snow-capped mountains to the Lake Geneva valley. During the trip we will enjoy beautiful views of lakes, forests and prestigious resorts such as Gstaad. Arrival in Montreux, where we will check into the hotel and have free time to rest or walk.

Montreux's promenade is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. We can walk and enjoy the views of the lake and the Alps, as well as beautiful flower gardens and numerous statues, including the Freddie Mercury monument. Don't miss the Château de Chillon, a medieval fortress located on the shores of the lake, famous for its excellent preservation and the opportunity to explore its halls, dungeons and antique furniture.

Nightlife in Montreux is also diverse, with numerous bars, clubs and music events that create a special atmosphere for the city. We recommend 'Funky Claude's Bar' at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, carrying a jazz and blues atmosphere, named after the founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Claude Nobbs. The bar offers live music several nights a week, with a variety of cocktails and a wine list. La Rouvenaz is another popular bar on the central promenade, offering drinks and light cuisine in a cosy, modern setting - an ideal place for an aperitif and unwinding.

Day 5 Zermatt

Breakfast. We leave the hotel and take the train to Zermatt, passing through incredible alpine landscapes with lush meadows and majestic mountain peaks. After arriving in Zermatt, we will check into the hotel, and the rest of the day is free.

Zermatt is known for its car-free streets and impressive views of the Matterhorn. We can explore the old village or enjoy traditional Swiss dishes such as fondue, raclette and Swiss chocolate. During your free time, you have the opportunity to take the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise lift up to 3,883 meters above sea level. The elevator will take us to the observation platform with a 360º panoramic view, which includes 38 alpine giants. Here we can visit the highest ice palace in the world - an unforgettable experience.

Local restaurants in Zermatt offer a cozy atmosphere, delicious food and breathtaking mountain views. We recommend visiting two unique restaurants: Chez Vrony and Restaurant Whymper-Stube. Chez Vrony, located at 2,130 meters, offers spectacular views of the Matterhorn and is the perfect place to try traditional Swiss dishes made with organic products. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, with a typical alpine style.

Restaurant Whymper-Stube, located in the heart of Zermatt and named after the first mountaineer to climb the Matterhorn, offers authentic Swiss dishes including fondue, raclette and lamb. With its warm and welcoming environment, decorated with wooden elements, the restaurant creates a cozy and traditional experience, complemented by a selection of local wines.

Day 6 Matterhorn

Breakfast. Today we will take the Gornergrat mountain railway, where we will enjoy impressive panoramic views of the Matterhorn and other iconic alpine peaks. This historic railway will take us up to over 3000 meters where we will have time to immerse ourselves in the magic of nature and enjoy the surroundings.

The afternoon is free for walking around Zermatt, where you can discover the charm of this unique alpine resort.

Day 7 Davos

Breakfast. On the seventh day of our excursion, we will board the famous Glacier Express, which will take us on a remarkable journey through the Swiss Alps. We will enjoy dramatic mountain and forest scenery passing through the Furka and Oberalp passes.

In the evening we will arrive in Davos and check into the hotel. Overnight in Davos.

 

Day 8 Italy

Breakfast. An unforgettable experience and indescribable scenery await, so keep your camera handy and keep an eye out for incredible views as you cross the Alps aboard the Bernina Express.

Known as Switzerland's best-kept secret by rail experts, this astonishing train journey follows the highest route in the Alps and highlights the country's unique regions. Traveling high in the mountains, we'll be able to enjoy snow-capped peaks and mighty glaciers before sliding down the slope to the palm trees of Switzerland's Italian-speaking region. The time spent on the Bernina Express is filled with incredible scenery, twists and turns and mishaps. During my trip, we will pass through 55 tunnels and 196 bridges. As the train is equipped with panoramic carriages, we can enjoy all the splendor at every turn as we approach Tirano in Italy.

When the train reaches its final destination, we will change the mode of transport and continue from Tirano to Lugano. Arrival in Lugano and check-in at the hotel. We have free time for rest or a walk around the city. Overnight in Lugano.

 

Day 9 Lugano

Breakfast. Today we have free time or, if desired, we can take the lift up to Mount Bre. The climb to the top of Mount Bre above Lugano offers an unforgettable alpine experience, revealing breathtaking panoramas of Lake Lugano, the city and the Italian Alps. During the smooth ascent by lift, we will enjoy picturesque views of the "Swiss Riviera". At the top we will find opportunities for pleasant walks, unique viewpoints and authentic restaurants with local cuisine. Bre Mountain is the ideal destination for lovers of nature, silence and unforgettable photos amidst the beauty of the Alps.

Lugano has many great places for dinner and cocktails. Bottega del Vino is an excellent choice for lovers of Italian cuisine and wine, offering delicious dishes paired with fine wines from all over Italy. If you are looking for a cozy place with a traditional Italian atmosphere, La Cucina di Alice offers a wonderful menu of pastas, pizzas and classic Italian dishes made with fresh local ingredients.

After dinner you can head to Reforma Square where you will find numerous bars and cafes offering cocktails and a lively atmosphere. It is the perfect place to stroll, enjoy evening drinks and have a good time with friends or loved ones.

Day 10 Gotthard Panorama Express

Breakfast. After that we will embark on the last Swiss railway adventure aboard the Gotthard Panorama Express. During the journey, we will admire views of castles, palm trees and vineyards as the train passes through spiral loops and tunnels, including the impressive Gotthard Tunnel, which dates back to 1882.

We will then pass through the Rues Valley before arriving in Fluelen. Here we will change transport and board a paddle steamer that will take us across Lake Lucerne. The three-hour boat trip is full of beauty and we will enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks of the Gotthard Pass and the high rock walls that rise on both sides of the lake. Note the small lakeside chapel associated with folk hero William Tell. Approaching Lucerne, we will also see the Rigi and Pilatus mountains, which will be the perfect scenic end to this idyllic journey.

After getting off the ship, we will have free time to rest at the hotel or walk around the city.

Day 11 Lucerne – Zurich

Breakfast. We vacate the hotel and drive back to Zurich, the destination with which we started this unforgettable journey. We have free time to check in at the hotel, rest or walk around the city.

During our stay, we can visit the main sights, such as the Grossmünster Church with its iconic towers, the Fraumünster Church with Marc Chagall's stained glass windows and the Bahnhofstrasse, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. Be sure to stroll down to Bellevue Square, which offers spectacular views of the lake, and explore the trendy Zürich-West district, filled with galleries, stylish cafes and bars.

Day 12 Departure for Bulgaria

Breakfast. We vacate the hotel and end our Swiss rail adventure. Switzerland is famous for its iconic trains and we've explored this mountainous country along its most famous routes. We enjoyed the stunning scenery of the snow-capped Alps, sparkling lakes and vineyards.

Then we will take a flight from Zurich to Sofia.
