Departure from Sofia Airport to Madrid, Spain. Arrival in Madrid and check-in at the hotel. Free time for rest or, if desired, a panoramic tour of the historical sights of the city. You will visit the Prado Museum (Museo del Prado), one of the most important museums in the world, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy works by Velázquez, Goya, Ribera and many other great artists (optional and with a pre-purchased ticket).
The tour continues with a visit to Puerta de Alcalá, a symbol of Madrid, located near Retiro Park, and the Barrio de Salamanca, famous for its luxury shops and elegant architecture. You will pass through the Plaza de Colón, dedicated to Christopher Columbus, which is the cultural and commercial hub of Madrid. You will then enjoy the Plaza de Cibeles, home to the iconic Cibeles Fountain and important administrative buildings such as the 'Town Hall' and the Central Bank of Spain.
You will explore the Gran Vía, famous for its shops, theaters and impressive architecture, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Plaza de España, one of the largest and most important squares in Madrid. You will visit the Temple of Debod (Templo de Debod), an ancient Egyptian temple gifted to Spain, which offers spectacular views of the city, especially at sunset.
The tour will also take you to Puerta de San Vicente and Puerta de Toledo, historic remains of Madrid's medieval walls, as well as Gran San Francisco Vía de San Francisco) leading to various cultural attractions. You will also have the opportunity to explore the Collegiate/Mayor church complex, as well as the Atocha train station, known for its architectural magnificence and its inner garden.
If desired and with a pre-purchased ticket, you can also visit the Botanical Garden (Jardín Botánico), located near the Prado Museum, to enjoy a variety of plants and a peaceful atmosphere.
Free time for dinner and evening walks around the city. Overnight in Madrid.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for the beach or, if desired, a visit to La Oliva — one of the main towns and administrative center in the north of Fuerteventura. La Oliva is known for its cultural heritage and proximity to some of the island's most impressive natural scenery. You will have the opportunity to explore the House of the Colonels (Casa de los Coroneles) and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. Free time for final shopping or a stroll through the local streets.
Optional visit to the Barranco de los Enamorados canyon, located about 10-12 km south of La Oliva. Known as the "Love Gorge", this dry river canyon impresses with its unique sand formations and beautiful white sand cliffs that contrast with the volcanic nature of the island. The place is ideal for walking and taking photos, and in some places the rocks have bizarre shapes resembling natural sculptures. Free time for relaxation or beach. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for the beach, for example at Playa de Cofete — one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura. The long stretch of sand, surrounded by the Handaya Mountains, offers unique natural beauty. Near the beach is Villa Winter, about which mystical stories related to the Second World War circulate.
If desired, a visit to the Ajuy Caves (Cuevas de Ajuy), located on the west coast of the island. These are ancient volcanic caves, considered to be one of the oldest geological formations in the Canary Islands. The village of Ahui is also charming, with its small black beach and traditional restaurants that offer authentic local cuisine. Free time for relaxation or walks. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Fuerteventura airport for flight to Madrid. Arrival at Barajas Airport, Madrid. Free time for walking around the city or, if desired, a panoramic tour of Modern Madrid. You will explore:
- Neptune Square (Plaza Neptuno), dedicated to the Roman sea god Neptune, with the magnificent fountain in its center depicting Neptune on a chariot.
- Cybele Square (Plaza de Cibeles) and Colon square (Plaza de Colón).
- Sculpture Museum (Museo Esculturas), dedicated to sculptural art, with a rich collection of works from different historical periods and styles (on request and with a pre-purchased ticket).
- National Natural History Museum (Museo de Ciencias Naturales), which offers interesting expositions about nature and the evolution of life on Earth (on request and with a pre-purchased ticket).
- New ministries (Nuevos Ministerios), an administrative complex built in the 1920s and 1930s, known for its modern architectural style.
- Santiago Bernabeu (Santiago Bernabéu), Real Madrid's stadium, a holy place for football fans (on request and with a pre-purchased ticket).
- Research Institute (CSI Científicas), which is key in the development of scientific and technological research in Spain.
- Lazaro Galdiano Museum (Museo Lázaro Galdiano), with an impressive collection of art and antiquities collected by Baron Lázaro Galdiano (on request and with a pre-purchased ticket).
- Serrano Street (Serrano), famous for boutiques of world-famous brands and fashion stores.
Free time for final shopping or sightseeing. Overnight stay.
Day 10 Madrid - Sofia
